Boston-based Americana singer-songwriter Tracy O'Connell fruitfully combines spirits of folk, bluegrass, and traditional country on her new all-acoustic album, Durango Red. She captures untainted emotion with her delicate vocals on 11 tracks produced by Seth Connelly. O'Connell sings tales of simpler times on Durango. "Roses Will Come Our Way" opens the album--a simple country song about "riding out the storm," red roads, barns, and finding peace outside city limits. "Hummingbird" is tantalizing and undemanding. A song using the tiny, quiet bird as a metaphor for a love. "Portrait in Blue" is a noteworthy track with its varied melody. Durango features musicianship from Connelly on guitar and bass, Steve Sadler on Dobro and mandolin, Matt Leavenworth on fiddle, and harmony vocals sung by Julie Dougherty, Tim Fitzpatrick, and Betsi Mandrioli. O'Connell's strength lies in her sweet voice and storytelling ability. The Boston Folk Festival's Songwriting Contest recognized her songwriting skills, where she was a finalist for the album's title track ~ Kristie Singer, Singer Magazine, February 2005, Issue #31
